Le Perigord Noir – A world wrapped within itself
The Perigord, in the South Dordogne region, dates back to medieval times and is a world unlike any other. With panoramic views of
lush green valleys bordered by high riverside cliffs, tiny castles, winding
country lanes, medieval villages, pretty harbours and lauze stone roofed
cottages, the Perigord scenery is second to none.
The surrounding countryside offers crystal clean air
and fertile ground in which truffles, nuts and mushrooms flourish. Local
farmers breed geese and ducks, thus providing the world’s most exquisite
foie gras, and vineyards produce globally acclaimed wines.
The hustle and bustle of local village life sports delightful
bars, restaurants, boutiques and markets. You can immerse yourself into
the culture and begin to see the world through French eyes. Right on your
Perigordian doorstep, you’ll discover the surrounding area including
the bastide town of Domme, medieval, Renaissance and 17th Century attitude
in Sarlat and the Riverside town of Le Roque-Gageac.
Whether you prefer slow strolls and lazy boat rides,
or vigorous bike rides and strenuous hikes, you’ll find everything
you could possibly need in the Dordogne environment.
